The passengers in Departure Lounge

Sunday was relaxing for the past few weeks, get to have some ME time. Hopped around some cafes, discovering coffees/brunch/even the music that's airing. Most of all, when I'm alone with the laptop I tend to have the motivation of noting down the people I'd observe in the cafe.

Departure Lounge, a catchy name cafe in Solaris Publika. Previous visit to the cafe was a brunch with my "lucky leaves" girl gang. The theme for this cafe was pretty clear, love the menu and ordering style of this cafe. A boarding pass as a waiting number for your food, drinks item was named destination and we can check out the price in the time column. People nowadays love something call FEEL. Of course I'm one of it. The feel of being in a departure lounge, waiting for the next destination.

The table next to me was a family of 4, 2 newly wed and their parents. Having a  senior generation wearing typical Chinese Jackie Chan coat in a western modern coffee place like that catches my attention. Uncle JC was looking at the place, checking out what other tables (youngster or young adults's food). The son ordered a latte for him, uncle JC commented no coffee taste. After finishing his spaghetti, he has this unsatisfied look. Aha, as what I expected, he said in Cantonese. The food here failed, nothing nice. The son is playing candy crush all the time even while he's talking. Speechless. Luckily the mother is quite friendly and open by the way she talked to her husband and daughther-in-law. However, I would really praise this uncle at his 70's, this is a big step to understand his son and daugther-in-law. I know it's really difficult for our parents to understand us, especially our appetite and food selection.  At least our parents love us and give it a try. Dim Sum or some chinese restaurant will be a better choice to cheer them up on a Sunday.

On the other corner, a bunch of ladies in their end 20's or early 30's, total 6 of them having their girls Sunday. Overheard (the volumn quite loud, normal for girls gathering) them discussing on one of the girl's wedding dinner. And they are teasing one of the girl after she answered her phone (obviously the bf called to check her) Ahaha..... After they finished their food, they went to the other corner (shown in the picture above) to capture some nice shots for the group photo.
I think this is a must do for every girl gathering. Apparently they are celebrating one of the lady's birthday with a Doraemon cake. o,0 Well, somehow I missed my gorgeous girls at this moment. We used to hang out more often during our Uni days, celebrating birthday or even after exams. We're all working adults now and some of us earning a living overseas which makes this sort of gathering more challenging.

2 couples were sitting at 2 corner in front of my. Lovey dovey. Having their late lunch at a Sunday afternoon. Something weird is the 2 couples are really quiet. No eye contact, No physical contact, No talking. Biting quietly, munching quietly, drinking quietly. It's raining outside, cold inside and I'm shivering every time I look at them. Big contrast as my ears can get whispering from the next table (the aunty definitely is the catalyst of the family of uncle JC) and loud laughing from far away corner (the girls happily cutting and eating the Doraemon cake) Ehhhhh..... Why like this? Aren't 2 person in love should be passionate and interactive? Or nowadays, the sound of silence is the trend for couples?

A little thought of the day, family and friendship looks happier to me.

*love the song that's airing now (Besame Mucho-instrumental version, one of my favourite Spanish song which English title: Kiss me a lot)... and all the passengers catched their flights..
